Yangtze dredging

Beijing is to allocate Yuan200 mill (US$24 mill) this year to dredge the Yangtze River to ensure smooth navigation along China's longest waterway...

The funds, provided by the State Development Planning Commission and the Ministry of Communications, will be used for dredging 18 locations, said officials at the Yangtze River Navigation Channel Bureau. Frequent heavy flooding in the last two years deposited 194 million m3 of mud and sand in the lower reaches of the 6300 km river, which flows through nine Chinese provinces and autonomous regions......
