Cochin study

A new study by leading Indian consultancy firm RITES has proposed the creation of modern handling facilities at a 70 year old wharf to meet a projected jump in bulk and breakbulk export cargo from the Cochin hinterland...

The four-berth Mattanchery Wharf at India's federal port of Cochin is currently in a poor state and unable fully to meet vessel requirements. At present, local traders bring in commodities like coal, cement, clinker, wheat, raw cashew, foodgrains and some general cargo via Mattanchery, but the present structure is deteriorating and corrosion has made it unsafe......
