Straddle carriers retain appeal

New and improved designs have attracted start-up operators and existing clients enlarging and/or renewing their fleets

The straddle carrier market has been booming, at least in Europe and North America, and Kalmar Industries, Noell Crane Systems and Nelcon have all been enjoying the fruits. Kalmar has also won an interesting order in Asia - 13 4-high VI generation machines for Chittagong, a project which did not attract bids from either TCM or Mitsubishi (see WorldCargo News, March 2000, p60)....
