The Halifax Port Authority (HPA) and Halterm Ltd have reached an agreement on a new 20-year lease that will secure Halterm's long-term future as a container terminal operator in the Canadian port.
The agreement was reached following some tough negotiations and acrimonious exchanges between the two sides over the price HPA was demanding to renew Halterm's lease. At one point Halterm's future looked in doubt as HPA invited expressions of interest from other potential operators of the Halterm facilities, where the current lease expires at the end of this year....
