Singapore-based Airocean Group Ltd, one of Asia's leading integrated logistics service providers, and Advantage Technologies LLC of the USA have formed a new joint venture company - Advantage Containers Technology Pte Ltd (ACT) -to market what is claimed to be the world's first multi-purpose, non-electric refrigerated container capable of transporting chilled and frozen perishables as well as dry cargo.
Designed by Advantage Technologies, the ACT container is a standard insulated box equipped with a patented cryogenic cooling system that uses carbon dioxide as the cooling medium. Originally developed by Advantage Technologies' technical director James Moe some 20 years ago, the cryogenic system has been used successfully in over 500 refrigerated railcars in the US for over 10 years....
