Fast ferry designer and builder Incat Tasmania has launched its new "Evolution one12" wave-piercing catamaran design, with a new emphasis on economical freight operations. The new design incorporates major features from the company's 98m and 120m designs, but places the emphasis on high capacity and economy, says Incat.
With an operating deadweight of 1000 tonnes, the Evolution one12 will operate at speeds of 40 knots, or 45 knots at 500 dwt. An additional bonus to operators is the overload deadweight of 1500 tonnes in which state the craft will operate with cargo at medium speed, say 23 knots....
