Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI), together with Tomen Corporation, has been awarded a contract to supply three 35m-50 tonne container gantry cranes, eight RTGs, two RMGs and various items of ground handling equipment to the Port of Constantza (MPA Constantza SA) for its new south container terminal project. The infrastructure works package has been awarded to Penta Ocean Construction Co Ltd of Japan.
The bidders and the bid prices for both the equipment and infrastructure packages were reported in the October 2001 issue of WorldCargo News (p4). From these it would appear that MPA Constantza has awarded the contracts on the basis of low bids for both packages - US$34.5 mill for the MHI/Tomen bid and US$42.7 mill for the Penta infrastructure bid....
