The current downturn in the tank container market cycle is now in its fourth year and there is no immediate end in sight. Following the record-breaking year of 1998, when upwards of 16,000 new tanks were built worldwide, annual tank output has been slipping ever since. Opinions differ as to how many new tanks were built in 2001, but most agree it was in the 6,000-8,000 unit range....
