New berths for Visakhapatnam

As part of its privatisation plans, the Visakhapatanam (Vizag) Port Trust (VPT) in southern India is to award concessions on four new berths on a build, operate and transfer (BOT) basis, VPT chairman S R Rao said.

Two of the berths, numbers eight and nine, will be built by Vizag Seaport Ltd, an arm of the construction company Gammon India Ltd, while talks are on with another Indian company, Larsen & Toubro, for berths six and seven....
