Enfield hits a snag

A key component of Sydney Ports Corporation (SPC) 's master plan to relieve landside pressure on Port Botany has suffered a blow with the formerly supportive State Government deciding to put the Enfield Intermodal Terminal project to independent review.

The A$80 mill scheme, claimed to be Sydney's biggest port-related project since the construction of Port Botany's container terminals in the early 1970s, is planned for a 47 hectare site in Enfield and aimed at putting up to 40 percent of port container traffic onto rail (see WorldCargo News October 2001 p22) ....
