Box financing opportunities remain

Predictably, given the recent poor performance of the global transport sector, demand for container funding has fallen dramatically during the past year and is certain to stay well below the level of 2000 and earlier. However, there remains no shortage of specialists offering an increasingly varied and tailored range of financing options.

Container demand turned down very sharply during 2001 and looks set to remain relatively modest for the current year. Nevertheless, the more specialist providers of container financing may have gained ground during the past 12 months as the global downturn has coincided with a growing reluctance by mainstream banks to continue lending to the container transport sector....
