Cagliari International Container Terminal (CICT) has been "ordered" by the Cagliari Port Authority (APC) to find a regular (deepsea) customer within three months or its long-term concession awarded in 1997 to operate the facility at Porto Canale will be revoked.
In effect this represents a further stay of execution for the P& O Ports/GIP-led consortium, which was supposed to be handling 1 mill TEU/year by now. Apparently CICT is committing to handle a minimum 150,000 TEU/year in 2003, with a ±10 per cent maximum tolerance factor built in....
