The development of new generation, main power feed cables which are considerably lighter than earlier designs helps the designer of the cable reel.
Conversely, however, higher trolley speeds and accelerations, coupled with longer travel distances, are imposing more demanding requirements, particularly on festoon systems. Meanwhile, the use of lightweight spreader cables with twin pair data links, again coupled with high speeds and longer travel distances, means that cable reels for spreaders are fast becoming the norm....
