In the first half of this year Hamburg logged a 14.9 percent increase in container traffic to a record 2.9 mill TEU, mainly due to continued strength in the Far East market coupled with strong growth in transhipment flows to Nordic/ Baltic markets.
For the fifth year in succession Hamburg can show a double digit growth in container turnover. The results, says the port authority (HH), were the best of all the ports in North Continent, with Hamburg achieving a 7.2 percent increase in overall turnover compared to an average handling increase of 5.8 percent for the rest of the Hamburg-Le Havre range...
