DB Cargo has set up what is touted as a “new transport concept” for Finnish paper products, providing JIT deliveries by rail and value-added services for paper and other forestry products landed at sea ports.
According to Klaus Schymke, the director of DB Cargo’s agriculture, forestry and consumer goods business unit in Mainz, the pilot services for the new “PaperSolution” service package achieved 98 percent reliability in the door-to-door transport chain, compared to 75-80 percent with the “standard product” and the delivery window is just one hour....
