The government of the south Indian state of Kerala has opened discussions with companies that responded to its tenders inviting expressions of interest in developing Azhikkal and Alapuzha ports (see WorldCargo News October 2003).
Tenders were floated in August and the state government wants to evaluate techno-economic proposals before selecting the developers. Four companies have expressed interest in Azhikkal - Universal Lubricants of Sharjah, Antara Koh of Singapore, Lagan Holdings of Northern Ireland, and Chandragiri Constructions of India - and one company, Trans Resources Corporation of Malaysia, has shown interest in Alapuzha....
