Bromma continues to work on spreader-based options that, in some cases, require a headblock with a sheave expander but otherwise offer terminal operators the chance to achieve some twin 40ft lifts from “standard” ≥60 tonne SWL cranes. One development is the “Tandem Quattro” which, says company director Willy Simonsen, can handle four 20ft containers.
Available lift options include one or two 40ft or 45ft containers or two or four 20ft containers. Tare weight of the Tandem Quattro is 24 tonnes and sideshift can be provided. The spreader is still in the design stage but it is notable that neither side of the Tandem Quattro telescopes to the single 20ft container position and, therefore, it cannot handle a single 20ft container or 20fts side by side....
