The KPA has finally published its long term vision for the port of Mombasa, including the creation of a new free port and an expanded container terminal. According to Nairobi, the Japanese government has agreed to provide KSh8.8 bill (US$110 mill) of the US$125-187 mill funding required for the modernisation programme.
Just over 40 hectares of land has been set aside for the expanded terminal facilities and KPA said that construction work is expected to begin next year and should be finished by 2010....
