More information is available about the type of yard operation which Maher Terminals may opt for at Fairview Container Terminal in the Port of Prince Rupert. As reported in last month’s WorldCargo News (p1), this project is definitely going ahead, with the securement of the financing package. The terminal layout and design have been drawn up by Maher in collaboration with Moffat & Nichol and CN Railroad.
In the first phase it looks as though there will be three 100ft gauge, superpost-Panamax cranes along the 400m long berth. The on-dock intermodal yard is aligned parallel with the quay and has a total of nine working tracks, of which eight can hold 5 x 328ft long stackcars and one can hold three stackcars, meaning a total of 43 cars....
