Bilbao Atlantic Fruit Terminal (BAFT), which is owned by Agemasa and A Jentoft, is forecasting a 10 per cent increase in fruit and vegetable traffic in 2005. Last year, 11,800 pallets passed through the company’s installations in the Port of Bilbao.
However, an increase is expected thanks to developments linked to the EU’s “Marco Polo” programme to enhance short sea shipping services. As previously reported MacAndrews has started a service between Bilbao and Dublin, which is concentrating on Spanish fruit and vegetable exports using 45ft high cube palletwide containers to take on overland trucking....
