Bromma reports that it has adopted CANopen databus technology as a higher level protocol for its SCS2 spreader diagnostics system. Up to now Bromma has used a special CANbus protocol based on SAE J1939 software. Switching to CANopen, it says, means that the Input-Output (I/O) points can be moved to where the actuators and sensors are located, rather than running the information on wire to the SCS2 node.
This means that the wiring can be reduced from as many as 19 wires to two wires per box. Since wire breakage is a prime cause of electrical-related downtime incidents, less wiring translates into less downtime....
