Hong Kong-based OCR system supplier Asia Vision Technology Limited (AVT) has recently won three contracts for its VECON video optical character recognition system for automatically recording container and license plate numbers at container terminals.
In South Korea the VECON Vehicle License Plate Number Recognition (LPNR) and Container Number Recognition (CNR) will be installed at a sixlane (three in/three out) gate at Pusan Newport. Five industrial high-resolution CCTV cameras will be installed per lane, one for the truck license plate and four for the container (front, rear, left and right sides). At the out gate, automatic container recognition will trigger the lifting of the barricade. Asia Vision says the system is 98 per cent accurate and can reduce processing time by up to 58 percent....
