Volga Shipping Company (Vosco), the river’s largest shipping operator, plans to enter the Baltic container shipping market.“There was a Baltic Shipping Company liner service from Saint Petersburg to Europe in Soviet times,” said Vosco’s managing director Aleksandr Shishkin, ”but now foreign lines dominate the market.”
The company plans to build five new 7600 dwt ships for the traffic. Subject to shareholder approval, construction of the new ships may start this year, says chairman of the Board Viktor Olersky, within the framework of the “Luga Project.”...
