LASSTec (load and strain surveillance technology) is a new development for container handling equipment from Lemantec, a France-based company run by Beat Zwygart (ex-Elme France).
The design provides load sensing directly from the spreader twistlock, as fitted on any type of quayside or yard crane, straddle carrier, lift truck, etc. In this way, the twistlock becomes not only the load carrying device but also the load measuring device. Data are monitored and stored via an interrogator unit in the spreader electrical unit and fed to the spreader or crane PLC....
