Germany-based car maker Porsche is extending its cooperation with Deutsche Bahn AG. Porsche already transports selected vehicles of its 911, Boxster/ Cayman and Cayenne model series for key overseas markets by rail and has now transferred component shipments to its Finnish partner Valmet Automotive from road to combined transport.
DB company Railion AG developed new wagons with suitable mega-trailers in close cooperation with Porsche, Valmet Automotive and Finnish road haulier Nybrok Oy. The trailers, which have a payload of 25t and an interior loading height of 3m, are loaded with engines and components for the Boxster and Cayman models both at Porsche’s plant in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen and at suppliers’ premises in south Germany....
