The recent change of ownership of PD Ports plc has not led to any changes in the company’s line on national priorities for port development. In response to the UK Department of Transport’s promised ports policy review consultation, it is urging the government to “put the environment and regional regeneration at the heart of future transport policy.”
PD Ports group development director Martyn Pellew said, “The rise in imports, especially from the Far East, has led many supply chains to an over-reliance on south east ports, has led to ever greater congestion in the south and is holding back economic growth in the north....
