Pakistani Ports and Shipping Minister Babar Khan Ghauri has announced that the 40 year concession to operate and further develop the new Gwadar deepwater port has been awarded to PSA International.
Nine international operators had shown interest in running Gwadar, but only four bids were submitted when fresh tenders were invited earlier this year (see WorldCargo News October 2006, p9). DP World, which had been favourite to win the concession, decided not to bid “for economic reasons.”...
