Container traffic at Australia’s Port Adelaide could be boosted by up to 40,000 TEU/year following the signing of a A$70M deal to ship 750,000t of pulp per year through the port’s DP World-operated container terminal.
Protavia, the owner of the controversial Penola Pulp Mill, which is awaiting approval from the South Australian government, had originally planned to ship the pulp, destined for South Korea, China and Europe, over Portland or the Port of Melbourne, but opted for Adelaide after agreement was reached for a major upgrade to the South East rail-line....
