Orders for no less than 28 ultra-large container ships (≥12,000 TEU), not counting options that are likely to be excercised, have been placed in the past 4-7 weeks.
The Rickmers brothers have each ordered eight 13,100 TEU container ships from Hyundai in Korea. The order from Rickmers Reederei (Bertram Rickmers) is worth E1.4B and the 366m long, 48.20m beam and 15.50m draft ships have 800 reefer plugs. They can carry 8900 TEU at 14 tons. The bridge is located midships and they have a service speed of 25.7 knots....
