Subject to regulatory approvals, Germany’s Rhenus Logistics group will buy a 50% stake in inland waterways operator Swintrans Bevrachting BV, based in Zwijndrecht, the Netherlands, with effect from January next year. The purchase has been made through Rhenus Partnership GmbH & Co KG.
“Our goal is to continue to offer our customers suitable and sufficient shipping space,” said Rhenus Partnership’s MD Thomas Maasflen. “With its anticipated 26 articulated tug-barge systems with a capacity of almost 150,000t, Swintrans is an important component in this.” Swintrans currently possess 10 modern articulated tug-barge systems and 16 more are on order or already under construction....
