L-3 MPRI Simulations Group is building what is said to be the world’s first simulator for tandem 40ft container crane operations for DP World’s regional training centre in Jebel Ali. L-3 MPRI simulations group director Tom Bremer says the company spent six months developing a generic tandem crane operations module that was then customised further for DPW’s own cranes and mode of operation.
DPW operates multiple ZPMC tandem cranes and its simulator is based on an emulation of a Siemens control system. The tandem module will run in the full-size simulator at Jebel Ali....
