Chennai Port Trust (CPT) has invited bids to develop the port’s third container terminal, a 4M TEU/year facility that will be the first in India capable of handling ships of up to 15,000 TEU capacity (see WorldCargo News August 2007, p1). The final day for submission of requests for qualification is June 16 2008, after which CPT will invite requests for proposals.
To be developed on a build, operate, transfer (BOT) basis under a 30 year concession, the terminal will be located on partially reclaimed land to the north of the Bharati Dock Basin. It will feature 2000m of quay with a depth alongside of 18m....
