RAM Spreaders has launched an automated twistlock handling machine for 20ft, 2 x 20ft, 40ft and 45ft containers, designated PinSmart. The time and labour-saving device operates automatically when containers are being discharged from the ship. During ship loading operations, tests at PSA Singapore indicated that PinSmart reduces labour input by around 75% (≥75% when the lift is 2 x 20ft).
According to Cameron Hay, project manager, NSL Engineering Pte Ltd (RAM Spreaders’ parent company). PinSmart has been shown to be compatible with 90% and 60% of above deck and below deck twistlocks, based on a survey of 250 ships calling in Singapore....
