While Samsung has stepped up efforts to market its 400m long 16,000 TEU ship design, another Korean shipbuilder, STX Shipbuilding, whose current orderbook includes nine 13,000 TEU ships, has unveiled a design for a containership capable of carrying 22,000 TEU, almost twice the listed capacity of Maersk’s Emma Maersk-class vessels.
Earlier this year STX signed a deal with Zodiac for two 320,000 dwt ore carr iers and it has just signed a US$247.5m contract with undisclosed European buyers for two 300,000 dwt ore carriers....
