Traffic has been rising steadily at the Port of Valletta since Valletta Gateway Terminals Ltd (VGT), the joint venture of Portek Group of Singapore and Malta’s Tumas, was awarded a 30-year concession to manage and operate the facilities at the end of June 2006.
“The number of regular weekly shipping services has gone up from three to 10 since we took over,” said Peter Darley, managing director of VGT.“Most of the traffic is with Italy and Spain and transhipment for Libya is also increasing.”...
