VTG AG, one of Europe’s leading rail logistics and wagon hire companies, is acquiring all the assets of the rail car manufacturing division of the Graaff Group in Elze, Germany. Terms of the deal, which is conditional on the approval of the German anti-trust office (Kartellamt), were not disclosed.
Graaff has been building special freight cars at the Elze site in Lower Saxony since 1914 and was formerly one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of containers and swap bodies. In recent years, it has specialised in the construction of stainless steel tank cars for the carriage of chemicals for which it holds numerous approvals.
