Konecranes’ first half interim results make for positive reading. The company has reported a record order intake for the period of €1.141B, 27% up on the figure for the first half of 2007. Total sales in the period came to €931.6M (€802.6M). It posted a second straight record high order intake in the second quarter - €579.3M, up 24.6% on 2Q/07. For the first time, the orderbook at the end of the first half topped €1B (€1.027.7B). EBIT for the first half came to €58.3M.
The company notes that port equipment orders continued at a high level in 2Q/08. New sales of port equipment come under Konecranes’ heavy lifting segment, where orders received in 2Q/08 increased by 33.7% to €198.4M, due to strong order intake from port, steel, energy and mining customers. Heavy lifting’s orderbook continued to increase as orders outpaced sales. At the end of June it stood at €528M (€360.9M at end June 2007)....
