The Institute of International Container Lessors (IICL) has released its 20th Annual Leased Container Fleet Survey, which shows that survey participants controlled 9,582,281 TEU of containers on January 1, 2008.
The IICL estimates that its container-owning members (Amficon, CAI, Cronos, Florens, GE SeaCo, Gold, Seacastle, Textainer, TAL and Triton), together with survey participants Capital Intermodal, Consent, Waterfront and Tankspan, own or manage 90% of the global leased fleet, implying that total leased inventories amounted to 10.6M TEU at the beginning of this year....
