Some 20 years after it was first mooted, India’s Shipping Ministry has approved the construction of a container transhipment terminal at Vizhinjam in the southern state of Kerala.
The new facility will be built at a cost of US$1.2B by a consortium led by India’s Lanco Kondapalli Power, which includes subsidiary Lanco Infratech, and Malaysia’s Pembinaan Redzai. The consortium will have a 76% stake in the project, with the state government holding the remainder....
