In its first foray outside China, Hong Kong-listed port operator China Merchants Holdings International (CMHI) has formed a US$60M joint venture with state-owned Vietnam National Shipping Lines (Vinalines) to build a container terminal in Vietnam.
Under the deal, the partners will build the Vung Tau International Container Terminal in the Ben Dinh-Sao Mai area of Vietnam’s southern coastal province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau and operate it for 50 years, the longest permitted under the country’s laws....
