After much delay, it looks like ZPMC has finally been awarded the Haifa ship-to-shore container crane contract. The €100M international tender for up to 22 cranes for the Carmel A container terminal (including options at set time intervals) was issued two years ago (see WorldCargo News July 2006, p6) and three companies submitted bids - Kocks, Konecranes and ZPMC.
Kocks is the traditional supplier of container quay cranes and RMGs in Israel, while Konecranes has won an important round of RTG awards. ZPMC, however, had no presence in the Israeli market....
