Cargotec reports 3Q/08 results

Cargotec is a bellweather of what is happening in the port equipment supply sector as the world financial crisis deepens. Its latest report to the Helsinki stock exchange states: “The market situation in the large project side of container handling [Kalmar] is healthy, and offers are at a high level. On the other hand in construction-related customer segments in Europe and the US the market situation in load handling [Hiab] has further weakened from September.

“The shipbuilding market [MacGregor] is evening out as earlier expected. Order intake in the final quarter of the year is, according to earlier expectations, expected to be below the high level of previous quarters.”...
