The Kenyan Ports Authority (KPA) has planned to introduce 24 hour operation at Mombasa for some time, but the Kenyan government has now demanded that it is introduced immediately.
Political difficulties, both within the country as a whole and at the port, had delayed the introduction of a number of port reforms, but under pressure from new Prime Minister Raila Odinga, the KPA, the Kenya Bureau of Standards and the Kenyan Revenue Authority are now working through the night, seven days a week to ensure that clearing and forwarding agents can continue working....
