TT Club recommends fire suppressants

The TT Club has followed up earlier advice on avoiding hydraulic fires in mobile handling equipment (see WorldCargo News July 2007, p36) with a recommendation on a particular fire suppression system.

In the past two years the Club has received around 50 claims resulting from hydraulic fires in mobile equipment. These frequently result in write-offs. Despite the frequency and the costs of such incidents, however, on board fire suppression systems have generally been considered too expensive - for example, an installation on a heavy lift truck could be US$8000....
