France-based Lemantec International has provided more information on its patented LASSTec (load and strain surveillance technology) load sensing and accident prevention system designed to operate directly from the spreader twistlock, as fitted on any type of quayside or yard crane, straddle carr ier, lift truck, etc (see WorldCargo News June 2006, p3).
The system uses the twistlocks of the spreader to measure the load and eccentricity of the container, improve operational safety and efficiency and reduce accidents related to container handling....
