Three shipper groups in south China are up in arms over plans by Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) to impose a new HK$25/Yuan25 (US$3.22-3.66) charge per container seal with effect from May 13.
The Hong Kong Shippers’ Council, the Macau Shippers’ Association and the Shenzhen Shippers’ Association have issued a joint statement to “strongly voice their displeasure” at OOCL’s move, claiming that they are being singled out since the announcement for the charge mentioned only exports from south China, including Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Macau....
