Minera Esperanza, the 70:30 joint venture of Antofagasta SA and Marubeni Corporation, has been awarded a concession to build a new port at Caleta Michilla in northern Chile to cater for its local copper production.
It is now putting together terms and conditions for a construction tender it expects to issue soon. The new facility will be used to handle copper concentrates. Copper will be obtained from a new local mine, where production is due to start at the end of 2010....
