Reconstruction of Berth 10 at Fremantle’s North Quay is under way as part of a multi-million dollar infrastructure programme associated with planned deepening of the Inner Harbour.
The reconstruction of the 52-year-old Berth 10, which adjoins the existing Patrick container terminal, will equip it for container use as well as ro-ro and general cargo. Other works planned for North Quay include the strengthening of the container berths 4 to 9 to handle larger vessels and permit installation of larger cranes to service them. The work will also involve installation of steel sheet piling along the berth faces to hold back the embankments beneath the wharves ready for deepening....
