Ninety-five US ports have applied for US$3.32B in funding from the US$1.5B TIGER (Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery) Discretionary Grant Program administered by the US Department of Transportation (DoT). Berthing infrastructure and equipment feature heavily in port proposals, especially mobile harbour cranes.
The port of Everett in Washington State has applied for US$43M for, amongst other things, re-piling and paving its south terminal to support mobile harbour cranes and other handling equipment. In Florida Port Manatee’s application includes funding for a container yard and harbour mobile crane, as does Maine Port Authority’s application for a new intermodal facility at Searsport....
