Holes in the East Arm have Darwin worried

Darwin Port Corporation (DPC) in Australia is downplaying problems with the port’s centerpiece East Arm Wharf, despite local suggestions that it needs millions of dollars of rectification works that would require closure for two years.

The multi-berth structure, which houses dry bulk, container, livestock, heavy-lift and offshore trades, is being lengthened to give a continuous quay length of 774m to provide additional general cargo/wet bulk facilities. The entire structure, which is sheet pile over retained fill with a bituminous cement polymer surface, is linked to the shore by a 2.5 km causeway, served by road and rail....
